Feel the rush of an engine that goes from 0 – 60 in 4.1 seconds with available Hydra-Matic® 6L90 automatic transmission. That’s power you can feel, covering a quarter mile of pavement in a mere 12.3.
With an all-aluminum 6.2L supercharged engine. This 580-horsepower, 556 lb.-ft. of torque, 6.2-liter supercharged V8 can be mated to a TREMEC® 6-speed manual (MG9) or Hydra-Matic 6L90 available automatic transmission. This aluminum-block engine is based on the legendary GM small block V8 architecture and features an intercooled supercharger system and premium heat-resistant aluminum alloy cylinder heads.
Supercharge your ride
Camaro ZL1 features a uniquely designed sixth-generation intercooled 1.9-liter Eaton® supercharger. It’s what gives ZL1 additional thrust and more force and it’s a big component of the driving exhilaration you’ll feel when you put ZL1 through its paces. The 4-lobed supercharger enables a broad range of power through the rpm band, giving the engine great low-end torque and excellent horsepower at the upper rpm range where a supercharger generally loses its effectiveness.
Stays cool when the action heats up
When the action is heating up, you can always bring down the top on the ZL1 Convertible and cool things down a bit. Under the hood, our engineers have developed a more high-tech solution to keep the ZL1’s impressive engine happy.
Unlike many of its competitors, ZL1 comes fully equipped with factory-integrated auxiliary fluid coolers that would otherwise cost thousands of dollars to install, including a liquid-to-liquid engine cooler typically found on high-end
sports cars. Both the manual and automatic transmissions are equipped with high-capacity oil coolers, consisting of a liquid-to-liquid and air-to-oil heat exchanger plumbed in series.
The differential cooler is a truly unique design. This innovative system pumps overcooled transmission fluid to a heat exchanger inside the housing, removing excess heat from the differential fluid.
That smooth transfer of power and control you’ll feel when shifting? You can thank the ZL1 Convertible’s latest TREMEC® 6-speed manual transmission with its short-throw shifter and dual mass flywheel.
The system provides smooth transfer of the engine’s exceptional power and torque, and the dual mass flywheel design ensures smooth operation. The small diameter and low inertia of the twin disc clutch ramp up the 0–60 performance.
The optional automatic transmission is no afterthought — it’s a fully integrated powertrain offering that is completely unique to the segment. The Hydra-Matic® 6L90 is built to handle the impressive torque and power while steering wheel-mounted paddle shifting helps make shifts quick and convenient. The upshift algorithm in TAPshift® mode reduces delay, allowing for seamless tap downshifts and upshifts. The algorithm has been designed to recognize aggressive throttle movement to hold lower gears for extreme driving situations.
ZL1-Tuned Performance Suspension System with Gen 3 Magnetic Ride Control
From the open highway to your neighborhood street, ZL1 is remarkably comfortable and capable on road thanks to a series of applications and refinements to the chassis system, including the first car for sale in North America featuring the latest generation of Magnetic Ride Control™.
The bushings, mounts and dampers have all been tuned for this vehicle’s high-performance dynamics. Springs lower the vehicle to reduce its center of gravity for improved braking and handling. Both the front and rear stabilizer bars have been designed for a dramatic decrease in roll and precisely tuned for perfect handling balance.
Power to the pavement
ZL1 has three distinct damper calibrations: Tour, Sport and Track. The shocks employ magnetorheological fluid for damping levels adjusted up to 1,000 times per second, making the system exceptionally responsive and providing increased wheel control on even the roughest road or the most challenging track by dramatically reducing heave, pitch and roll.
You can have the most powerful, supercharged engine in the world, but if you don’t have the technology to support it, what do you get? A whole lot of power you can’t use.
Every piece of ZL1 is built to support and optimize every single horse in this machine’s command. Brembo® brakes help provide exceptional control to eliminate brake fade.
When rubber beats the road
ZL1 offers two 20” wheel options. Both have 20” x 10” front and 20” x 11” rear sizes and are forged-aluminum, optimized for high strength and low mass. The standard wheel is a black 10-spoke — or opt for the polished 5-spoke.
The Goodyear® Eagle® F1 SuperCar® Gen 2 summer-only tires† have been developed and optimized specifically for ZL1 to yield outstanding handling while maintaining requisite street tire performance for wet handling, tread wear, noise, mass and rolling resistance. These tires are also 11 lbs. lighter per car than the tires on a Camaro SS.
Steering that really responds
For ZL1, the goal was to create handling and control not just for street use, but to enhance acceleration performance under all racetrack conditions. The electric powered steering system in ZL1 is specifically engineered for lower inertia and friction, resulting in a direct steering feel and response.
ZL1 is equipped with a Brembo® brake system with massive 14.6" front rotors. It is considered world-class in the high-performance luxury vehicle niche. The unique two-piece design provides excellent fade resistance and is engineered to stand up to repeated high-speed stops. Huge 6-piston monoblock calipers are asymmetrically laid out in the front, with four pistons in the rear. Brake cooling ducts route air from the fascia to the rotor and caliper.
The ZL1 is designed to function as a package to enhance the overall dynamics of the car by maximizing down force which presses the tires against the pavement for optimal grip and control.
New for 2014, the rear fascia has been redesigned with sculptural decklid and diffuser. You’ll also notice new LED lamps for a modern, aggressive expression and horizontal taillamps . Up front, a stylish hood air extractor also contributes to improved cooling and aerodynamic efficiency.
That it all looks so good doing it? That’s the icing on the cake.
Not to be ignored
The unmistakable air extractor is engineered from carbon-fiber composites to achieve the highest stiffness and strength possible with the lowest mass. The air extractor pulls air through the lower grille and out through the hood, cooling the engine, increasing efficiency and reducing lift in the process.
The prominent feature of the front fascia is the large lower splitter, which reduces front lift significantly and forces air through the lower grille opening. Single-piece rockers with extensions are aero-designed and help keep the vehicle down to balance power. The rear diffuser extends to the rear wheel openings and incorporates metal heat shields to insulate the fascia from the hot exhaust tips.
Inside the ZL1 Convertible you’ll find an interior that rivals most luxury convertibles. Sueded microfiber inserts with red accent stitching and ZL1 logos are embroidered on the front-seat head restraints. Every detail exudes luxurious craftsmanship — befitting the Camaro ZL1 name.
Stay connected to the road
The flat-bottom steering wheel, designed for use in open racecars, provides increased leg room for improved heel-and-toe driving. The wheel has a smaller diameter than the standard Camaro steering wheel, and the rim section has been thickened and tuned to give the driver a more connected feel, which can be improved even further with the available sueded microfiber wrap.

RemoteLink Key Fob Services† are a component of the OnStar RemoteLinkTM† app that gives you access to features such as remote start as well as locking and unlocking—even when miles away from your vehicle. This is included for five years after purchase of your 2014 Chevrolet vehicle, with or without a paid OnStar® subscription. With Remote Link Key Fob Services, you can unlock your automatic door locks remotely if your keys are locked inside or in case of an emergency. With factory installed and enabled remote start, you can also remotely start or turn off your car, which is helpful for cooling or heating the inside of your vehicle, and activate your vehicle’s horns and lights to help locate it in a crowded parking lot.
Antilock brakes and the StabiliTrak® Electronic Stability Control System with Traction Control help keep you in control during emergency maneuvers, and are standard on every Camaro ZL1 Convertible. The control module compares your steering input with the vehicle’s actual response and, if necessary, makes the corrections to help keep you on track.

On models with the 3.6L V6 engine, Continuously Variable Valve Timing (VVT) adjusts airflow in and out of the combustion chamber under all engine speeds, which helps improve fuel economy and lower emissions. With Direct Injection, fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber, which allows for a higher compression ratio and results in better fuel economy.
On models with the 6.2L V8 engine, Electric Power Steering uses an electric motor instead of an engine-driven belt, which results in a lighter overall workload and increased efficiency.
The engine facility is landfill-free. This facility uses a process to reuse, recycle or convert to energy all waste created in its daily operations, which conserves resources.
Some water and engine-air deflectors are manufactured with more than 99% recycled content, including used tires. Making use of recycled materials conserves resources and reduces landfill deposits.
After the vehicle’s useful life, 85% of it is recyclable. The majority of its components can be broken down and recycled, which conserves resources and reduces landfill deposits.
