The year 2005 saw Chevy Cobalt driver Ron Krisher return to the top 10 of the NHRA Pro Stock standings. The Ohio resident registered a ninth-place performance after scoring a pair of runners-up at Phoenix and Seattle. It marked the fifth career top-10 finish for Krisher and the fourth time in the last five seasons that he's broken into this elite group of drivers. He qualified in the No. 3 position (season-best) three times, and recorded a career-best elapsed time at Dallas and a best-ever speed at the Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla. Krisher's best season was in 2000 when he won two national events, advanced to four final rounds, earned five No. 1 qualifying awards and finished fourth in the standings.
