Partnered with the V6 engine, this smooth-shifting, electronically controlled 6-speed transmission strikes the perfect balance of performance and economy for a family sedan. It's geared slightly higher than the standard Malibu^® 6-speed automatic, so it can handle the V6's increased power and torque. But it still revs low on the highway for optimal fuel efficiency (EPA estimated 26 mpg, highway) and quiet cruising. And, to help you squeeze all the power out of the V6, it also features TAPshift^® – a clutchless system that lets you move through the gears manually, simply by pressing a button on the shifter – because even a family car should feel sporty.
