Racing inspired, everyday ready

Your heart will race. The 2012 Grand Sport Coupe boasts 0—60 mph under four seconds, 1g lat capability on the test track. Not to mention and an impressive 26 MPG highway4 fuel economy on your everyday drive. It's powerful combination of performance and efficiency.

Grand Sport is racing inspired, which means you feel as close to the track behind the wheel no matter where you're driving. That performance DNA runs through every inch of Grand Sport, pulling performance features from the track-ready Z06 and combining them with Corvette's street-ready features like its removable roof panel, and available six-speed paddle shift automatic transmission.

100 years in the making

Celebrate Chevrolet's 100 years with the Chevrolet Centennial Special Edition Corvette. This racing-inspired appearance package includes bold visual elements to signify a historic milestone. This special edition includes red-painted brake calipers, Centennial exterior badging, satin black Grand Sport fender badges and the exclusive the Carbon Flash Metallic exterior color along with 5-spoke wheels, 18-inch front and 19-inch rear, in satin black aluminum.

Aggressive styling continues on the interior with leather and sueded microfiber with contrasting, iconic red stitching. The package also includes custom Centennial embroidery for the console, seats and mats.

Each detail and individual touch comes together in the Chevrolet Centennial Special Edition, creating an iconic appearance that distinguishes Corvette on the road and in history.

Performance

Power harnessed and finely tuned

A fuel efficiency of 26 MPG highway4 paired with performance capability that reaches 0—60 mph in under four seconds, 1g-force cornering and 430 horsepower is nothing less than an achievement in modern engineering. And that's how we see the 2012 Grand Sport—an achievement.

With features such as its wide body stance, fine-tuned power-to-weight ratio, Grand Sport is more than a luxury sports car boasting optimized suspension with specific stabilizer bars, stiffer springs and shock absorbers. And for increased stopping performance there's larger than base brake rotors with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers. It's a force unlike anything you've felt before.

Heighten its performance with the Z52 Performance Package with manual transmission and the dry sump oil system, or opt for available Magnetic Selective Ride Control™ that includes Goodyear Eagle F1 Super Car Gen 2 tires.

Dial up your suspension

The available Magnetic Selective Ride Control stiffens suspension capability for twisty roads while providing a more compliant ride for city driving and freeways. Here's how it works. An electromagnetic coil resides inside each damper piston. When an electrical current is applied—variably controlled by a microprocessor—ferrous particles in the shock fluid instantly bond, making the fluid more flow resistant, effectively stiffening the shock's damping. Conversely, when the electromagnetic field is reduced, the fluid flows more freely, allowing easier suspension movement. There are two cockpit settings: Tour and Sport. Also, enjoy Goodyear Eagle F1 Super Car Gen 2 tires when combined with the available manual transmission.

Launch control—Power straight to pavement

Just put your hands on the wheel and your foot to the floor. Grand Sport with launch control will do the rest. Standard with the short-throw six-speed manual gearbox, it modulates engine rpm in competitive mode to lay the power down more smoothly while providing consistent acceleration times on the test track. It's a feature for those who like to compete in club-sanctioned closed-course track events, but may just tempt others to start.

Exterior

Athletic appearance for a competitive heritage

We don't simply talk about our racing inspirations—we show them off. And in Grand Sport, you'll recognize the competitive and athletic look immediately. You'll see it in the wide and aggressive stance, flared body style, and other design cues that nod directly to racing. It's design that's both pleasurable and purposeful, as in the dual front-wheel air vents unique to Grand Sport, allowing for brake cooling yet giving Grand Sport a bold, chiseled appearance and echoed in its emblem.

Both classic and aggressive

Rounded fenders and a dynamic lines are classic Corvette design elements that have been the foundation of its exterior design for nearly 60 years. Celebrate classic Corvette roots with the exclusive-for-2012 Carlisle Blue exterior color option, or honor its heritage with the Carbon Flash Metallic exterior color, available only with the 2012 Chevrolet Centennial Edition.

Open-air exhilaration

Enjoy open air with the standard removable roof panel, or the available transparent roof panel. It's easy to handle and stores quickly and conveniently in the rear cargo area, snapping in place while leaving space for additional items. Opt for the available Dual Roof Package to enjoy both solid and transparent roofs whenever you feel inclined.

Interior
Refinement at every touch

The Corvette Grand Sport interior has been refined for greater driving support and comfort from the new seat and steering wheel designs to its newly padded center console and armrests. Seats include larger bolsters on the seatback and cushion areas for increased support, especially in high-performance driving.

Optional sueded microfiber seat inserts complement the new design even further, as does the revised steering wheel featuring model-specific badges, streamlined switch trim, wrapped spokes, better hand placement and thumb grips.

No detail was overlooked in order to create the most luxurious Corvette interior to date. Softening the interior are the padded center console and armrests, while the added visual touch of contrasting color stitching—in red, blue and yellow—is available with the Custom Leather-Wrapped Interior Package with sueded microfiber on the 4LT trim level.

Technology

Comfort, convenience and cutting edge

Grand Sport is born of modern technology seen in its hydroformed structure or in options such as Magnetic Selective Ride Control, but Grand Sport also includes modern technology features that keep you connected to your life. For even more convenience, the all-new Technology Package standard on the reconfigured 2LT brings together many of the most popular infotainment features such as navigation radio5, Head-Up Display, Bose® premium audio system, SiriusXM Satellite Radio6 services for one year, Bluetooth® wireless technology7 for select phones and a USB port8. Corvette Grand Sport also comes with a six-month trial of OnStar® Turn-by-Turn Navigation9 standard to help keep you on track.

The Power of Bose®

For 2012, Grand Sport will offer a new Bose® premium audio system which includes nine speakers for improved audio quality that is more precisely tuned to the cabin's acoustics. New tweeters located in the instrument panel and improved Bose Nd next-generation bass performance round out this truly premium audio experience.

Head-Up Display

Keep important reading within sight with your eyes focused safely on the road ahead of you while driving with the optional Head-Up Display, including g-force meter. Utilizing proven technology, the display appears above the hoodline to make it easier to read while driving. For differing driving styles, the display includes two modes—track and street, which also includes helpful commands through the available navigation system5.

Bluetooth® Wireless Technology7

Composite body panels

Technology in a Corvette isn't limited to what's under the hood. Composite body panels used to form the exterior help reduce the vehicle's overall weight. And the panels never rust, helping Corvette to be truly timeless.

Safety
Protection is great, prevention is better

Our philosophy on safety emphasizes prevention with important features such as Active Handling, run-flat tires and four-wheel antilock brakes, but in the event of a collision Grand Sport is engineered for safety before, during and—thanks to OnStar®—after a collision to help keep you protected.9

Before

Active Handling and four-wheel antilock brakes help you stay on the road and in control to help avoid crashes in the first place, while standard high-intensity discharge xenon headlamps shed 900 lumens of light onto the road for excellent visibility. And if there's a loss of tire pressure, its run-flat tires help enable safe function for some distance at a moderate speed until the tire can be repaired.

During

In the event of a collision, Corvette is designed to help keep you and your passengers protected with frontal and side-impact air bags10.

After

OnStar® with Directions & Connections® and Automatic Crash Response9 uses built-in sensors that can automatically alert an Advisor, who can be immediately connected into your vehicle and can request emergency help be sent to your exact GPS location—even if you're unable to respond. Standard for the first six months.
