Chevy and MOFILM have joined forces once again to create a short film competition — this time for Chevy Sonic. These two companies have been teaming up for three years to help promote exciting global opportunities for aspiring filmmakers.
There are moments in life where people surprise themselves by conquering a foreign and brand-new experience. The MOFILM Palm Springs 2012 Video Contest asked participants to submit short films that centered on the Chevy Sonic and how the car could inspire young people to achieve their epic firsts.
Entries varied from inspirational to humorous and everywhere in between. With approximately 40 entries from 10 different countries, the range in creativity was astounding.
Here are the five films that placed in the MOFILM Palm Springs 2012 Video Contest.
1st Place Winner: First Ascent Callum Hanlon, USA
Chevy Sonic proved to be the perfect vessel to transport rock climber Paul Robinson from the busy streets of Madrid, Spain, to conquer a route that has never been successfully climbed in Albarracin, Spain.
2nd Place Winner: Honey, I Shrunk the Chevy Matthew Snyman, United Kingdom
In this film, a miniature version of the Chevy Sonic poses a challenge for its owner. It’s a good thing he is ready for adventure.
3rd Place Winner: First Solo Michal Jaszowski, Poland
Chevy Sonic is so fun to drive it’s easy to get lost in the fantasy. Take your first solo flight from the front seat of your Chevy Sonic to a glider aircraft.
4th Place Winner: See It All Ondrej Hudecek, Czech Republic
In See It All, Chevy Sonic inspires Filip to take his biggest risk yet — to seek out his father, whom he has never met.
5th Place Winner: First Flight Pete Herron, USA
The inspiration for this film originated from Herron’s own first experience skydiving. In First Flight, Chevy Sonic inspires the transition from being a passenger to piloting a plane for the first time.
