When Gran Turismo 5 players start their PlayStation® 3 (PS3™) consoles today, they will have the unprecedented opportunity to drive the Next Generation Corvette before it’s revealed to the world on 1.13.13 in Detroit, Michigan.
Thanks to a partnership between Sony and Chevrolet, the C7 Corvette was dropped into Gran Turismo 5 this month, intriguing gamers worldwide. Now all drivers can download the camouflaged prototype into their own virtual garages.
In this move, Chevrolet is tapping into the virtual accuracy of Gran Turismo 5, which plays more like a driving simulator than it does a video game. Every turn of the wheel, touch of the accelerator and seamless shift allows the driver to preview the power of the Next Generation Corvette.
“Gran Turismo has had many firsts and we’re excited to partner with Chevrolet for yet another — bringing the first-ever Chevrolet prototype vehicle into a racing game,” said Kazunori Yamauchi, president of Polyphony Digital Inc.
While your appetite cannot be fully satisfied, downloading the car from the PlayStation®Store on your PlayStation®3 will have to do for now. The camo won’t come off until 1.13.13.
