It was quite a good day for Corvette at the 54th Rolex 24 At Daytona. In the final moments of an intense 24-hour race, it all came down to this — Corvette vs. Corvette.

The final result was a dominating 1-2 finish by Corvette in the GT Le Mans Class, and a thrilling show for the fans.

Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner and Marcel Fässler drove the winning No. 4 Corvette while the No. 3 Corvette driven by Jan Magnussen, Antonio Garcia and Mike Rockenfeller finished just 0.034 seconds behind.

After a total of 722 laps and 2,570.32 miles, the final duel was between Gavin and Garcia, and the two C7.R Corvette race cars set a Rolex 24 record for margin of victory.

“Don't let him by. It was going to always be intense because we're teammates. The cars are very equal,” said Oliver Gavin when asked about his strategy in the final 10 minutes.

At the end of the day, there could only be one winner, and Garcia showed a great deal of showmanship and respect for his winning teammates. “I was proud and happy to have the chance to battle for the win with Oliver. It was one of the best races I’ve ever had. Oliver is very experienced and didn’t make any mistakes, even though I was really pushing him very hard. We put on a mega show for all the Corvette fans. It is amazing that we have a Corvette 1-2. I feel very good about it. I’m happy for Oliver, Tommy and Marcel. We’ll be ready to fight back at Sebring.”

This historic victory marks the third time Corvette Racing won in six attempts at the Rolex 24 At Daytona. In addition to the success in the GT Le Mans category, Corvette also took positions 2-4 in the Daytona Prototypes class. Congratulations and thanks to all of Team Chevy for giving Corvette owners and race fans a day to remember.
