Brain power

Combining smarts with power, Volt goes from 0 to 60 in 8.4 seconds. Give credit to its 1.5L direct injected high-efficiency engine and two electric motors. It runs on an electric charge and generates additional energy through a gas-powered generator when the battery runs out —giving you the confidence to go as far as you want. It’s elegant, electric power that’s unstoppable.

Up to 53-mile battery range

The average daily commute is only about 40 miles round trip. That means Volt offers enough battery range to make it from home to work, with range to spare for errands in between.

Up to 420 miles of total range with a full charge

Not sure if 53 miles is enough for your daily commute? Volt has a backup plan. If you go over 53 miles, Volt intuitively and seamlessly switches over to use gas as energy to extend your range, giving you the peace of mind to go hundreds of miles further.

1,100 miles between fill-ups

Chevy expects owners will drive over 1,100 miles between fill-ups by charging regularly. This means weekly stops at the gas station could be a thing of the past, giving you the confidence to go as far as you want.

How does it work?

There are two electric motors that work together to optimize efficiency and conserve your electric charge. Volt has an onboard gas generator that automatically switches on when your charge is running low. The transition is so seamless and smooth, you won’t feel it at all.

How long does the battery last?

Volt drivers have enjoyed impressive range reliability to date and of the more than 100,000 Volt owners on the road today, not one has experienced battery capacity loss issues. For added peace of mind, the battery is warranted for 8 years or 100,000 miles.

Does it run on gas?

Yes, you can put gas in it. Volt seamlessly switches to its gas-powered generator when the battery charge is depleted – offering you an extended range of 367 miles on a full tank.

Can it regenerate energy?

Yes, Volt helps to recharge its own battery through regenerative braking, which captures otherwise lost kinetic energy and transfers it back to the battery. And with Regen on DemandTM†, Volt allows you to increase the regenerative braking effect and gives you even more control of your range.

REGEN ON DEMAND

With a simple pull of the paddle on your steering wheel, you’re able to slow down without using the actual brake pedal. This helps convert energy into more electricity and then transfers it back to the battery. Of course, you should still use the brake pedal if you need to stop immediately.

ENERGY SCREENS

Want to know where you’re using the most energy or how much charge you have left in the battery? All of that valuable real-time information is housed on the color touch-screen and Driver Information Center behind the steering wheel.

Two charging options

Volt can be recharged using the included 120-volt portable cord or the available 240-volt charging unit. The 240-volt charging unit is recommended for at-home charging convenience.

240-VOLT CHARGING

The available 240-volt charging unit can be professionally installed to fully recharge the battery in about 4.5 hours. There is also an included 120-volt portable charge cord that will charge the battery in approximately 13 hours.

LOCATION-BASED CHARGING

Based on GPS data, a programmable “home” setting for charging allows you to take advantage of off-peak electricity rates when you’re plugged in at home. This setting will also allow Volt to immediately charge when plugging in away from home.

Forward Safety Awareness

FORWARD COLLISION ALERT

FORWARD AUTOMATIC BRAKING

If the available Forward Automatic Braking system detects that a front-end collision situation is imminent while following a detected vehicle, the system can automatically apply the brakes to help reduce the collision’s severity or even help avoid the collision at very low speeds.

When the air bags deploy built-in sensors can automatically alert OnStar and a readily available advisor will connect to your vehicle to provide assistance. Even if you don’t respond, an OnStar Advisor can use GPS technology to pinpoint your exact location and request that emergency help is sent right away.

Safety or driver assistance features are no substitute for the driver’s responsibility to operate the vehicle in a safe manner.  The driver should remain attentive to traffic, surroundings and road conditions at all times.  Visibility, weather and road conditions may affect feature performance. Read the vehicle’s owner’s manual for more important feature limitations and information.
