The 260-hp HHR SS Turbocharged features a turbocharged, direct-injected, dual overhead cam, ECOTEC 2.0L I-4 engine with Variable Valve Timing (VVT).
All LS and 1LT models are powered by this standard 2.2L DOHC ECOTEC engine that puts out 149 hp at 5600 rpm and 152 lb.-ft. of torque at 4200 rpm. This engine also delivers excellent fuel economy: an EPA estimated MPG city of 21 in HHR models and 22 in HHR Panel models, and 30 MPG highway in both models with the standard manual transmission. With the available automatic transmission, this engine produces an EPA estimated MPG 22 city, 30 highway in HHR and HHR Panel. Both transmissions give you a highway driving range of up to 480 miles.
This 2.4L DOHC ECOTEC engine with Variable Valve Timing, standard on all 2LT models and available on all 1LT models,(1) produces 172 hp at 5800 rpm and 167 lb.-ft. of torque at 4500 rpm. It also delivers excellent fuel economy: an EPA estimated MPG 20 city, 28 highway with the standard manual transmission in HHR models and an EPA estimated MPG 20 city, 29 highway with the standard manual transmission in HHR Panel models. This engine supplies both HHR and HHR Panel models with an EPA estimated MPG 22 city, 28 highway when combined with the available automatic transmission.

HHR offers peace of mind with a Passenger Sensing System for the right-front passenger and available safety features such as four-wheel ABS(1) and head-curtain side-impact air bags.(1)(2)

The HHR SS Turbocharged features performance seating with deep, premium-grip cloth bolsters; SS embroidery; UltraLux seat inserts; and outer accents in a choice of three colors: Red, Gray and Ebony with Gray inserts.

HHR's 60/40-split flat-folding rear seat, shown here with available Gray leather-appointed trim, provides firm, yet comfortable, support for up to three adults. An available power sunroof includes Express-Open and -Close, as well as a large opening to deliver a more complete open-air driving experience. Available on all LT models only.
Every HHR and HHR Panel stereo features an auxiliary audio input jack so you can plug in your iPod(R)(1) or other personal MP3 player. Plus, on SS Turbocharged and all LT models, you can program up to 36 cross-band radio station presets. In addition, a Radio Data System (RDS),(2) standard on SS Turbocharged and all LT models, provides readouts of artist names and song titles.

The Pioneer premium seven-speaker sound system features a rear subwoofer and 260-watts of power. It's standard on all 2LT models.
The rear and front passenger seats in HHR fold flat to provide cargo space for items up to eight feet in length. You get 57.7 cubic feet of cargo space without having to remove the seats. Simply fold the rear seats down.
The seatbacks are made of a durable composite to provide a sturdy cargo floor. Just keep in mind that cargo and load capacity are limited by weight and distribution.
Store additional valuables underneath the rear load floor or in two hidden storage bins located behind the rear seats in HHR. The Driver Information Center displays operating travel calculations, engine temperature and the Oil Life Monitor readout. It also includes personalization settings.
Order the available four-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission and get a factory-installed remote vehicle starter system. You'll be able to start your HHR or HHR Panel from up to 200 feet away, and it'll stay locked and secure until you press UNLOCK on your key fob.
HHR and HHR Panel feature a standard Getrag five-speed manual transmission with a chrome shift knob. A leather-wrapped shifter is standard on SS Turbocharged and all 2LT and available on all 1LT models with optional leather seating surfaces.
