The NEW, next-generation Vortec 5.3L V8 engine is new for 2007. In 2WD models it generates 320 horsepower and 340 lb. — ft. of torque. In 4x4 models it generates 310 horsepower and 335 lb. — ft. of torque.

The composite intake manifold design allows the Vortec 5.3L to deliver high levels of torque at lowrange and midrange engine speeds — which makes it ideal for towing — yet still supplies plenty of airflow for peak engine horsepower.

New Active Fuel Management™ provides seamless transition from eight cylinders to four and back again, with both power and efficiency.

For consistently smooth shifts, the four-speed automatic transmission features an input speed sensor and Transmission Control Module that optimize shift quality based on driver input. And a new Dexron VI transmission fluid helps provide long — term reliability and durability.
