Aveo's standard 1.6L engine with manual transmission has an EPA estimated 24 city, 34 highway miles to the gallon. The four-speed automatic transmission — available on select models — also fares well with an EPA estimated MPG 23 city, 32 highway.

This E-TEC II engine also has drive-by-wire Electronic Throttle Control. Elimination of the throttle cable improves system durability, lowers exhaust emissions and minimizes mechanical wear. What you'll notice most is that it enhances driveability, launch feel and mid-range torque delivery by allowing more precise control of throttle movements.
