The next-generation Vortec V8 engines have taken a big step forward in power, performance and efficiency. The Vortec 5.3L V8 engine, standard on half-ton 2WD models, generates 320 horses. The available Vortec 6.0L V8 in half-ton models creates 366 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque. Both feature Active Fuel Management™ technology, which allows for seamless movement from eight cylinders to four cylinders with no reduction in available power. The Vortec 6.0L, standard in three-quarter-ton models, pumps out a prodigious 352 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque.

Composite Intake Manifold
The composite intake manifold design allows the Vortec 5.3L to deliver high levels of torque at low- and mid-range engine speeds — ideal for towing — yet still supplies plenty of airflow for peak engine horsepower.

Transmission Advancements
For consistently smooth shifts, the four-speed automatic transmission features an input speed sensor and Transmission Control Module that optimize shift quality based on driver input. Dexron^® VI transmission fluid provides long-term reliability and durability.
