A dynamic duo

Silverado 3500 HD has more standard trailering capability than Ford Super Duty or the RAM HD.† available Duramax® Diesel has impressive torque, horsepower and towing numbers. With a 36-gallon tank, the Duramax offers up to approximately 680 highway miles.†

The heavy-duty Allison® 6-speed transmission harnesses the power of the available Duramax. To make sure it can handle the immense amounts of torque, we’ve given it a strong torque converter, larger diameter output shaft and more robust clutches.

Powerful support

The internal framework features a high-strength, fully boxed steel frame and suspension that lets Silverado 3500HD handle up to 7,222 lbs. of payload† and still provide a quality ride.

The independent front suspension allows each front wheel to react independently to rough terrain, and the tall and heavy steering knuckle is able to manage larger capacities. Precision-machined forged upper control arms support the truck’s strength, which together help keep each wheel in a vertical position and more firmly planted on the road.

The asymmetric design of the 3-inch rear suspension leaf springs help handle increased payloads. The staggered rear shocks are designed to help dampen the vertical movement of the truck. Everything works together to reduce wheel hop on acceleration.

3500HD brings maximum towing and payload from Silverado

The Silverado 3500HD with diesel engine can tow up to 23,100 lbs. with a fifth-wheel hitch,† and with a gas engine, has a maximum payload capacity of 7,222 lbs.†

Trailer Sway Control (Single Rear Wheel models) senses when a trailer starts to sway. Automatically, Silverado will apply the brakes and reduce engine power so you can get your truck back on track if necessary.

If you’re stopped on inclines greater than 5%, Hill Start Assist (SRW models) automatically kicks in to keep the truck in place for about a second to give you time to accelerate before the truck can roll backward.

Auto grade braking, which uses transmission downshifts to allow engine compression braking to slow the vehicle and its load, works in and out of Tow/Haul mode on the Vortec® 6.0L engine.

Front gross axle weight rating

The front suspension contains huge precision-forged upper control arms and torsion bars with the largest steering gear we’ve ever used on a heavy-duty pickup truck. The 3500HD supports up to 6,000-lb. front gross axle rating, so every HD 4x4 model can accommodate a snow plow with the available Snow Plow Prep Package. Silverado HD incorporates torsion bars that adjust the front of the vehicle back to its normal ride height, even with the weight of a plow attached.

Z71 Appearance Package

Enhance your Silverado with the Z71 Appearance Package for LT and LTZ models. Get body-colored features like the bumper and grille with chrome mesh, chrome door handles and mirrors, unique Z71 decals, foglamps, bright door sill plates and 18-inch polished forged-aluminum wheels with all-terrain tires.

Colors and custom features

Completely customize your Silverado to fit your needs. For added durability, the dealer-installed spray in bedliner is available. Rail protectors, stationary tool boxes, tonneau covers and a wide range of other accessories can be installed by your Chevrolet dealer.

Dually wheels

Rugged 17-inch forged and polished aluminum wheels are standard on 2014 Silverado 3500HD Crew Cab LTZ and available on Crew Cab LT with dual rear wheels.

Secure braking

The Diesel Exhaust Brake System,† included with the Duramax® Diesel, uses technology to create back pressure
in the engine to slow the vehicle down, reducing brake fade, prolonging brake life, and giving you confidence on
steep grades.

Auto grade braking automatically downshifts the transmission to help slow the truck — and give you more
control — while descending long, steep grades. When the system senses a panic-braking situation, Intelligent
Brake Assist lets you brake more quickly.
