Powerful Fuel Economy

Silverado Hybrid offers an EPA-estimated 20 MPG city and 23 highway, giving you the fuel economy that lets you get the job done. Besides increased fuel economy, Hybrid’s electrically variable transmission also provides tremendous trailering capability, enhancing smoothness and quality when towing: towing capacity is 6,100 lbs. with 2WD and 5,900 lbs. with 4WD models†.

20 MPG City

Two-Mode Advanced Technology

This dynamic two-mode advanced technology allows you to operate the truck based on your speed and payload. During Mode 1, your truck can operate three ways at low speeds and with light loads: electric power, engine power, or any combination of the two. During Mode 2, it provides an electric assist in addition to four-cylinder or eight-cylinder power used primarily at highway speeds or when taking care of tougher demands such as towing trailers and climbing steep grades.

Hybrid Power Flow and Instrumentation

Hybrid-specific instrumentation includes an economy gauge that constantly updates your fuel conservation efforts. There’s also an auto stop position on the tachometer that lets you know when the engine has shut down and you’re running fully on electric power. The hybrid power flow screen on Silverado Hybrid 2HY informs you of how the Hybrid system is currently functioning.

A Functional Bold Look

The 2013 Silverado Hybrid front end includes a chrome mesh grille and chrome bumper for a sleek, contemporary look. Aerodynamics are improved through the use of tonneau cover.

The Wheels

Silverado Hybrid comes standard with 18" chrome clad aluminum wheels. These wheels help to lighten the overall weight of the vehicle along with low rolling resistance tires contribute to the EPA-estimated fuel economy of 20 MPG city, 23 highway.

 

Exterior Colors

Appearances matter to Silverado owners, and in 2013, Chevy updated the color choices by adding Deep Ruby Metallic and Blue Topaz Metallic to the lineup.

Fuel-Saving Technologies

Engines have been factory-filled with engine oil meeting GM’s new dexosTM specification, which has improved viscosity characteristics as compared to the previous GF-4 oil, contributing to better fuel economy.

On the 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L and 6.2L V8 engines, Continuously Variable Valve Timing (VVT) adjusts airflow in and out of the combustion chamber under all engine speeds, which makes for better fuel economy and lower emissions. On the 5.3L V8 engine, Active Fuel ManagementTM deactivates fuel delivery to 
4 cylinders in lighter-load conditions, such as highway cruising, which improves fuel economy. On the 6.6L Diesel V8 engine, the 29,000 psi piezo-actuated common-rail fuel-injection system uses minimal hydraulic control energy, to maximize fuel economy.

Responsible Manufacturing

The transmission facilities are landfill-free. These facilities use a process to reuse, recycle or convert to energy all waste created in their daily operations, which conserves resources.

Both the Fort Wayne, IN, and Silao, MX, assembly facilities are landfill-free. The Romulus, MI, engine facility, along with the Toledo, OH, and Baltimore, MD, transmission facilities, feature designated habitat areas certified by the Wildlife Habitat Council, which provide ecological benefits.

Landfill gas supplies a portion of the energy needed to heat and cool the Toledo, OH, and Baltimore, MD, transmission facilities, which makes the facility less reliant on fossil fuels.

End-of-Life Recyclability

After the vehicle’s useful life, 85% of it is recyclable. The majority of its components can be broken down and recycled, which conserves resources and reduces landfill deposits.
