2008 Silverado Classic Safety Features

ABS
- All Silverado Classic models come equipped with standard four-wheel ABS. The antilock brake system (ABS) is a crash avoidance feature that helps prevent wheel lockup during braking in most slippery road conditions. The brakes also include Dynamic Rear Proportioning, which regulates front and rear brake pressure to optimize performance under varying load conditions.

DIC (Driver Information Center)
- The Driver Information Center (DIC), standard in all Silverado Classic models, monitors and reports on numerous vehicle functions such as low fuel, engine coolant and oil pressure, and indicates when an oil change is needed.

Traction Assist
- Available on select Silverado Classic 1500 and 1500HD 2WD models, Traction Assist utilizes electronic controls to help limit rear-wheel slippage when you're driving on most slippery surfaces, including wet pavement, ice, gravel, snow or sand. When sensors determine one rear wheel is spinning at a different rate than the other, engine power is reduced and brake force is applied to help regain grip.

Passenger Sensing System
- The Passenger Sensing System,(1) standard on Silverado Classic 1500 models (except 1500HD), automatically switches the right-front passenger front air bag on or off based on the passenger's weight and the type of pressure on the seat.

OnStar
- Available OnStar(2) with a one-year Safe & Sound Plan provides you with 24-hour access to helpful Advisors who can assist in a variety of situations.
Vehicle Diagnostics checks some of your vehicle's key systems, such as your engine, air bags and antilock brakes, while you drive. You'll receive an automatic email report once a month that includes your current mileage, remaining oil life, maintenance alerts and more.
And new Turn-by-Turn Navigation,(3) included with the available Directions & Connections Plan, gives you simple, step-by-step voice-guided instructions on how to get to your next destination. Push the OnStar button, and you'll never have to stop and ask for directions.
With Advanced Automatic Crash Notification (AACN), an OnStar Advisor will attempt to contact you, inquiring whether or not you need assistance. If you're unable to answer, the Advisor will contact a nearby emergency services provider who will dispatch help to your determined location.
