2008 Suburban Safety Features

Front Air Bags With Passenger Sensing System
- The Passenger Sensing System automatically switches the right-front passenger air bag(1) on or off based on the weight of the passenger and the amount of pressure on the seat. It is standard in Chevy Suburban.

Head-Curtain Side-Impact Air Bags
- Head-curtain side-impact air bags(1) are designed to reduce the risk of head and neck injuries to front- and outboard rear-seat occupants on the near side of certain side-impact collisions. They are standard in Chevy Suburban.

StabiliTrak
- The StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control System helps improve stability, particularly on slick surfaces and in emergency maneuvers. Here's how it works:
- The StabiliTrak control module compares your steering input with the vehicle's actual response and then, if necessary, makes small, individual brake applications to enhance control and keep you on track.
- StabiliTrak automatically intervenes when it senses loss of lateral traction (sideslip), understeer (plowing) or oversteer (fishtailing). In these situations, the system applies brake pressure and, if necessary, adjusts engine torque to help the driver get the vehicle back on track.

Antilock Brake System (ABS)
- The antilock brake system (ABS) is designed to help you maintain steering control by reducing wheel lockup during hard braking on most slippery surfaces.

OnStar
- OnStar(2) with a one-year Safe & Sound Plan comes standard when you purchase or lease a Suburban LS. A one-year Directions & Connections Plan is standard on all LT and LTZ models and includes Turn-by-Turn Navigation.(3) An OnStar Advisor is always ready to help you in a variety of situations, whether you've locked your keys in the vehicle,(4) you have a flat tire or the air bags have deployed.(1)

Driver Information Center (DIC)
- This feature helps keep you up to date on various functions of your vehicle.
