The standard rear vision back-up camera helps alert you to stationary objects behind your Traverse, while the available integrated blind spot mirrors enhance visibility on both sides of the vehicle.     To help protect you and your passengers, every Traverse comes standard with six air bags†. Traverse helps protect you with dual-stage frontal air bags, driver and front-seat passenger seat-mounted side-impact air bags, and head-curtain side-impact air bags for outboard occupants all three rows. Safety meets innovation in the newly available class-exclusive driver seat-mounted front center air bag†, which helps protect both the driver and front passenger from colliding with each other in side-impact crashes.     Fuel-Saving Technologies

    With Direct Injection, fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber in one of two ways; either before air flows into the cylinder or at the same time, resulting in efficient power generation and fuel consumption.

    Low-mass materials, such as an aluminum hood, plastic intake manifold, aluminum control arms and a magnesium instrument panel support beam, reduce engine workload and contribute to better fuel economy. Low rolling resistance tires reduce friction without compromising traction. Reduced friction lessens the energy needed to keep the vehicle moving, which improves fuel economy.

    The engine has been factory-filled with engine oil meeting GM's new dexos™ specification, which has improved viscosity characteristics as compared to the previous GF-4 oil, contributing to better fuel economy.

    Responsible Manufacturing

    The assembly facility is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certified. This facility has met performance metrics in energy and water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality and stewardship of resources. The Lansing Delta Township, MI, assembly facility and Warren, MI, transmission facility feature designated habitat areas certified by the Wildlife Habitat Council, which provide ecological benefits.

    Both the engine and transmission facilities are landfill-free. These facilities use a process to reuse, recycle or convert to energy all waste created in their daily operations, which conserves resources.

    End-of-Life Recyclability

    After the vehicle’s useful life, 85% of it is recyclable. The majority of its components can be broken down and recycled, which conserves resources and reduces landfill deposits.
