TOP SAFETY PERFORMANCE DOESN’T HAPPEN BY ACCIDENT.
Deliberate engineering and safety-feature decisions helped make the all-new Silverado 1500 Crew Cab the first pickup truck to receive the highest possible five-star Overall Vehicle Score for safety since the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration changed its New Car Assessment Program for the 2011 model year.†
Silverado offers a full array of advanced features designed to protect occupants before, during and after a collision.
Silverado offers the following technologies that provide you with information and safety features specifically designed to help you avoid a crash:
Helps your vehicle respond more accurately and predictably to your steering intentions. During difficult driving conditions, sensors feed data to an onboard computer that adjusts steering, engine speed and brake pressure to any individual wheel to help keep you on track.
Trailer Sway Control
Trailer sway control works with StabiliTrak to provide the driver with additional assistance when towing a trailer. When it senses trailer sway, it intervenes with braking and/or reduced engine power to bring the trailer under control.
Rear-Vision Camera System with Dynamic Guide Lines
Allows the driver, when in reverse, to view objects directly behind the vehicle via the radio screen in the center stack, allowing for easier parking and reversing maneuvers.
Safety Alert Driver Seat
Warns the driver of potential traffic danger using directional vibration pulses from the seat cushion. The patented warning approach is tied to all of the on-board crash avoidance systems.
Antilock Brake System (ABS)
Four-wheel, four-channel, antilock disc brakes (ABS) that help provide straight, more controlled stops by preventing wheel lock-up in most road conditions.
Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs)
Reduced-intensity lights on the front of vehicles that automatically illuminate when the vehicle is started. They make your truck easier to see for other drivers and pedestrians approaching from the front and side in a variety of daytime conditions, including fog, rain, dusk and bright sunlight. DRLs help reduce the risk of crashes.
Lane Departure Warning
Alerts the driver when the truck drifts over a lane line when traveling at least 35 mph.
Forward Collision Alert
Helps prevent frontal crashes by alerting the driver when the truck is closing in on a vehicle ahead too quickly, giving the driver additional time to react and avoid a crash.
Silverado is equipped with active and passive safety features that help lessen the effects of a crash.
Safety Cage Construction
With vertical pillars, side door beams and a roof made of reinforced steel, the safety cage is designed to help preserve the occupant space in a crash. Strategically placed crush zones help absorb and divert crash energy away from the occupant compartment.
The safety belt is a vehicle’s most important safety feature. Silverado offers new, standard lap belt pretensioners in the front-seat outboard safety belts. The pretensioners reduces slack in the lap belt to help keep occupants in place during a collision.
Every 2014 Silverado comes equipped with six standard air bags† and a 360-degree sensor system, including dual-stage frontal air bags, head-curtain side-impact air bags with rollover protection, and seat-mounted side-impact air bags.
LATCH for Child Seats
The LATCH (Lower Anchors and Top tethers for CHildren) system helps you properly install child safety seats using a top tether anchor and two lower anchors located between the seat cushion and seatback.
ONSTAR SAFETY FEATURES
