All Chevy vehicles registered in the U.S.A. come with a bumper-to-bumper warranty and are covered for 3 years/36,000 miles.(1) The complete vehicle is covered, including tires, towing to your nearest Chevrolet dealership and cosmetic corrosion resulting from defects. Repairs will be made to correct any vehicle defect, and most warranty repairs will be made at no charge. An OnStar Advisor is always ready to help in a variety of situations, whether you have locked your keys in the vehicle,(2) you have a flat tire or the air bags have deployed.(3)
In select models, and in conjunction with Stolen Vehicle Assistance, ( 4 ) OnStar can also assist authorities by remotely slowing down a stolen vehicle. Once authorities have a clear line of sight to the vehicle and confirm that conditions are safe, they can request OnStar send a remote signal to gradually slow down the stolen vehicle. With Active Fuel Management technology from GM, the Vortec 5.3L V8 engine, standard in Suburban half-ton models, and the Vortec 6.0L V8 engine, available in half-ton models, deliver power when you need it while providing the efficiency of four cylinders when you don't.
- In situations where extra power is not needed, such as cruising down the highway on level roads, Active Fuel Management deactivates four of the eight cylinders with seamless precision
- When load demands increase, such as when the vehicle accelerates or travels uphill, valves are reactivated to provide eight-cylinder operation
- The bottom line: the Vortec 5.3L and 6.0L V8 engines in Suburban half-ton models are more efficient in providing the energy to move the vehicle when only four of the eight cylinders are operating
- The powerful 32-bit engine control computer triggers cylinder deactivation based on inputs from vehicle sensors — making deactivation almost undetectable
- Active Fuel Management technology helps the 2009 Suburban 2WD equipped with the Vortec 5.3L V8 engine offer an EPA estimated 20 MPG highway when running on gasoline. That means a driving range of up to 620 highway miles on a single tank of gas
