    Z06 is powered by a 7.0L (427 cubic-inch) aluminum-block V8 with an 11.0:1 compression ratio. It delivers an SAE-certified 505 hp at 6300 rpm and 470 lb.-ft. of torque at 4800 rpm. The engine employs lightweight titanium intake valves and connecting rods and has a high-performance dry-sump oil system to protect vital components under high-g driving conditions.

    With a curb weight of 3,175 pounds, there isn't an ounce of fat on the Z06. Making this possible is an aluminum frame; magnesium engine cradle and fixed roof structure; and the use of carbon-fiber front fenders and carbon-fiber, balsa-sandwiched floorboards.     Some of these technologies were gleaned from the Corvette Racing factory program, which has won its class at the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans six of the past 10 years.

2010 CORVETTE Z06
Some lead, some follow. Corvette has written its own formula as an American original since 1953. The Corvette Z06 could be the purest execution of the race car builder's mantra — abundant power pushing minimal weight. Z06 was codeveloped with the Corvette C6.R that competes internationally at circuits such as LeMans. The Z06 is the lightest Corvette with a low 3,175-lb. curb weight, thanks to an aluminum frame, magnesium engine cradle and fixed-roof structure. It also makes use of carbon-fiber, balsa-sandwiched floor boards and carbon-fiber front fenders. Z06 is powered by a 7.0 Liter (427 cu. in.) aluminum-block V8 with an 11.0.1 compression ratio. It delivers an SAE-certified 505 hp at 6300 rpm and 470 lb.-ft. of torque at 4800 rpm. The engine employs lightweight titanium intake valves and connecting rods and contains a high-performance dry-sump oil system to protect vital components under high g-force driving conditions. The Corvette short-throw six-speed manual gearbox now offers Launch Control. Other standard features include an Active Handling System, ABS, Head-Up Display, cruise control, Keyless Access with Push-Button Start and xenon high-intensity discharge, automatic headlamps and foglamps.
