Chevrolet Performance Long Haul fleet for the 2025 HOT ROD Power Tour included a mix of vintage powered by our latest crate engines to new vehicles decked out in the latest from Chevy Accessories. They were led, appropriately enough, by one of the 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 models that served as the Official Pace Car of the Indianapolis 500.
Under the hood of the Chevy Performance Chevelle Laguna is the ZZ632/1000 — the largest and most powerful crate engine ever from Chevrolet. It is rated at 1,004 horsepower on premium, 93-octane pump gas, with highlights including racing-inspired RS-X spread-port cylinder heads, crank-trigger ignition with individual coils and electronically controlled fuel injection.
At all five stops on the tour, the Chevrolet Performance display was a hive of activity, with up-close looks at the Chevy vehicles on the tour, as well as displays of crate engines, high-performance parts and much more. In addition to the Power Tour, the display travels to many other events around the country. It’s a great way to view the engines and parts in person and pick up the latest Chevrolet Performance Parts catalog.
This stock car racing-inspired 1973 Chevelle Laguna has a long history with Chevrolet Performance. It debuted in 2018, with a supercharged LT5 engine under the hood, and currently showcases the ZZ632/1000 crate engine. In addition to the Big Block powertrain, the car features racing-style front and rear spoilers, a one-off carbon fiber hood. The suspension and brakes have also been updated.
Another longtime Chevy Performance project vehicle, this classic 1978 K10 Silverado drove the Power Tour with a direct-injected L8T 6.6L V-8 crate engine under the hood. It’s based on the same engine used in the latest Silverado 2500 HD models. Chevrolet Performance engineers also paired the engine with a production-based 10L90-E 4WD transmission, giving this vintage “Squarebody” a thoroughly modern makeover.
It was more than a decade ago that Chevrolet Performance built this 1988 Monte Carlo SS and it has been a regular Power Tour participant over the years. In fact, this classic G-body showcased one of the earliest examples of our Connect & Cruise Power Systems. Under the hood today is the LS376/525 crate engine and it is matched with a TREMEC Magnum six-speed manual transmission.
Powering the Corvette ZR1 Indy Pace Car on the Power Tour was the all-new twin-turbocharged LT7 DOHC 5.5L V-8 engine, which produces a stunning 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb.-ft of torque. A comparatively short stroke and a flat-plane crankshaft help the engine scream all the way to 8,000 rpm, while the turbos force feed it with up to 20 pounds of boost.
A Chevrolet Performance L8T crate engine is the power that pushed our classic ’78 Silverado “Squarebody” 4x4 through the HOT ROD Power Tour. Rated at 401 horsepower and 464 lb.-ft. of torque, it’s based on the same L8T 6.6L engine offered in the latest-generation Silverado 2500 HD models. It’s also the largest-displacement engine in the LT family and was engineered for great low-rpm torque.
