Since 2017, this 1967 Chevy C10 has been a showcase of Chevrolet Performance’s latest crate engine powertrain systems. It currently is home to the L8P 6.6L V-8 V8 engine — a performance version of the 6.6L gasoline engine used in Chevrolet’s heavy-duty trucks.
Chevrolet Performance’s C10 was originally a long-bed model. Its frame was shortened and its wheelbase altered to the dimensions of the popular short-bed model. Its low-slung stance is achieved with drop spindles and custom springs. The truck also rolls on 20-inch polished aluminum wheels.
The L8P makes 523 horsepower and 543 lb.-ft. of torque. Like the production on which it is based, the engine features a forged steel crankshaft, a variety of high-strength parts, high-flow heads and a composite intake manifold. It goes further with a high-performance camshaft and complementing valvetrain upgrades to provide greater performance capability.
The 20-inch polished aluminum wheels evoke the style of classic Halibrand wheels. They measure 255/40R20 in front and 295/40R20 in the rear. The wheelhouses in the bed were stretched to accommodate the wide rear rubber.
Inside, the cab retains its classic appearance, but it also incorporates several contemporary updates, including a modern air conditioning system, an retro-appearing steering wheel, custom leather upholstery and more.
Additionally, the original instruments have been replaced with modern interpretations designed to work with the electrical inputs from the engine control module and the transmission’s vehicle speed sensor.
