The Mint 400 is the oldest and one of the most prestigious off-road races in the United States, taking place on a challenging 100-mile course in the foothills outside Las Vegas.
At the Chevrolet Performance display during the 2023 Mint 400, a concept sealed crate engine was shown. Intended for off-road racing and dubbed the 525 XR, it was based on the CT525 circle-track crate engine.
Plenty of Chevrolet and Chevrolet-powered vehicles compete each year, including the Chevrolet Performance-backed entries of Hall Racing. The team’s Silverado ZR2 is seen here.
Racer Chad Hall’s Unlimited SPEC race vehicle has replica Chevy bodywork mounted on a custom racing chassis. Competitors must run an approved and sealed engine supplied by an approved builder. The Chevrolet Performance LS376/525 is one of the options.

Hall Racing’s Silverado ZR2 race vehicle is largely stock under the skin, with modifications mostly centered on safety equipment. Hall Racing has partnered with Chevrolet in recent years, using prototype ZR2 components to help test and validate the production models.
