Wherever you travel across this land, you’ll see that Chevy Silverado is on the job. Carrying the weight. Building the bridges. Working the family farms. And sometimes, just working to take a break from it all. Whether you need a pickup truck to haul a truckload of materials to a job site or simply haul it out of town for a weekend camping trip, you need a pickup that works for you — even when you’re not working. That truck is the 2012 Silverado 1500, the long-lasting, dependable full-size pickup truck that fits your lifestyle.
From getting there to getting away from there, Chevy Runs Deep.
You can count on Chevy to take a great truck and make it even greater. For 2012, many models have a fresh new look, but underneath they’re still the Silverado 1500 on which you’ve come to depend. Like most Silverado models, they’re equipped with smooth responsive handling and the StabiliTrak® Electronic Control System that now includes Trailer Sway Control and Hill Start Assist (excludes Silverado Hybrid).
Silverado LS, LT and XFE have an updated front end that includes a chrome mesh grille and chrome bumper for a sleek, contemporary look. And Silverado LTZ now features a body-colored grille surround with chrome mesh.
The 2012 Silverado rules the road with these slick, multi-faceted 20" Chrome Clad aluminum wheels.
For 2012 Chevy added new color choices, bringing Silver Ice Metallic, Mocha Steel Metallic, Black Granite Metallic and Graystone Metallic to the lineup. The luxurious White Diamond Tricoat is available on LT and LTZ Crew Cabs.

Not surprisingly, all that power is complemented by a lot of payload capability: 1,937 lbs. for Crew Cab and 1,908 lbs. for Extended Cab models with the available MAX Trailering Pack4.
With the available MAX Trailering Pack, Extended Cab models can tow 10,700 lbs. and Crew Cab models can pull 10,600 lbs.8 The package includes:

The available Z71 Off-Road Package includes:
A hydroformed fully boxed front frame section allows for fewer welds and provides immense overall strength and durability. The rear frame is also fully boxed back to the spare tire crossmember, where it becomes C-channel. This ingenious, strong design boosts payload capacity without adding unnecessary mass.
When it comes to ride and handling, Silverado's coil-over-shock front suspension and a wide front track provide great on-center feel, smooth out minor road irregularities, and supply excellent handling and stability. Durable, fade-resistant front and rear shocks supply an unexpectedly smooth and controlled ride.
The available Vortec 5.3L V8 offers an impressive combination of 315 horsepower and 335 lb.-ft. of torque and 15 MPG city, 21 MPG highway5 when running on gasoline—fuel economy no competitive V8 full-size 4x4 pickup can beat. In fact, XFE offers better V8 fuel economy than Ford F-150, Dodge Ram and Toyota Tundra, at 15 MPG city, 22 MPG highway. Click here to read more about fuel efficiency
Silverado's Tow/Haul Mode enhances performance while pulling a trailer or hauling heavy loads. When activated, this feature modifies the automatic transmission shift schedule and helps reduce throttle pedal activity by the driver while traveling over rolling terrain. New for 2012, is Cruise Grade Braking, which uses transmission downshifts to allow engine compression braking to slow the vehicle and it's load. It works in and out of Tow/Haul Mode on 5.3L and 6.2L engines.
Every Silverado 1500 non-hybrid V8 engine can operate on E85.
