2013 Black Diamond

Every 2013 Avalanche will be adorned with a Black Diamond badge and will come standard with a rear vision camera system, body-color exterior components, Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist, remote vehicle starter system, power-adjustable pedals and foglamps.

To mark the last run of this classic dual vehicle, Chevrolet is commemorating the 2013 Black Diamond Avalanche. It’s undeniable that this vehicle stands out with new features on LS such as power-adjustable pedals, Remote vehicle starter system, foglamps and rear parking assist. Both LS and LT come with new standard features such as matching body-color exterior components and a rear vision camera system. All of the features listed above remain standard on LTZ.

Spacious Cargo Area

The Avalanche cargo box features a lockable tailgate, rubber bed mats rigid tonneau cover and top box storage. It can accommodate 4’x 8′ building materials, has a 50-inch-wide cargo bed and offers 45.5 cubic feet of cargo space†. When it comes to storage capacity, Avalanche has the largest trunk in the industry†.

GM segment-exclusive Midgate® flexibility

The ingenious Midgate® transforms Chevy Avalanche from a five-or six-passenger SUV† to a full-size pickup truck. The conversion is easy: Just lower the 60/40 split-folding rear bench seat. From there, the Midgate® can be lowered for a secured cargo area, or the rear window and three-piece tonneau cargo cover can be removed for more room to transport larger items.

StabiliTrak® Electronic Stability Control System helps you stay on the road and in control. The control module compares your steering input with the vehicle’s actual response and then, if necessary, makes small, individual applications to help keep you on track. StabiliTrak also includes Hill Start Assist and Trailer Sway Control for even more assurance. Rollover mitigation helps determine potential for vehicle rollover, such as during evasive maneuvers, and applies brake pressure to the front tires to manage lateral tire grip, reducing the tendency for vehicle rollover. And a Tire Pressure Monitor,† also standard, keeps a constant watch on the inflation level of the four Avalanche road tires.

During

Six air bags† are standard in Avalanche, including head-curtain side-impact air bags and front-seat-mounted side-impact air bags. These are in addition to the standard dual-stage frontal, driver and right-front passenger air bags with the Passenger Sensing System. You’re also surrounded by a high-strength steel safety cage and strategically placed crush zones to help absorb and channel crash energy in case of a collision.

After

OnStar® with built-in Automatic Crash Response† is standard for the first six months. In a collision, vehicle sensors can alert an OnStar® Advisor who is immediately connected into your vehicle and can request emergency help be sent to your exact GPS location, even if you can’t respond. Fuel-Saving Technologies

Continuously Variable Valve Timing (VVT) adjusts airflow in and out of the combustion chamber under all engine speeds, which makes for better fuel economy and lower emissions. Active Fuel Management™ deactivates fuel delivery to 4 cylinders in lighter-load conditions, such as highway cruising, which improves fuel economy.

An electronically controlled six-speed transmission allows the engine to operate at a lower rate of speed as compared to transmissions with fewer gears, which results in better fuel economy. The engine has been factory-filled with engine oil meeting GM’s new dexos™ specification, which has improved viscosity characteristics as compared to the previous GF-4 oil, also contributing to better fuel economy.

Responsible Manufacturing

The assembly, engine and transmission facilities are landfill-free. These facilities use a process to reuse, recycle or convert to energy all waste created in its daily operations, which conserves resources. Some water and engine-air deflectors are manufactured with more than 99% recycled content, which includes used tires. Recycled material conserves resources and reduces landfill deposits.

End-of-Life Recyclability

After the vehicle’s useful life, 85% of it is recyclable. The majority of its components can be broken down and recycled, which conserves resources and reduces landfill deposits.
