Updates delivered right to your vehicle

• To be eligible for vehicle software updates, you must have already accepted the OnStar User Terms and OnStar® Privacy Statement for the vehicle. If you haven’t done this, you can accept terms on a call with an OnStar Advisor. 
• Your vehicle will notify you of available software updates through pop-up notifications on the center display. You can also manually check for them in the Settings app by selecting the Updates menu.
• A paid OnStar service plan is not required for over-the air software updates. Updates require internet connectivity, which may be provided through the included OnStar Basics* plan or a Wi-Fi®* connection. Without connectivity, updates cannot be received.
• There are 2 steps to updates:
  1. Download: Updates are automatically downloaded in the background. You can use your vehicle normally during the download.
  2. Installation: After download is complete, you’ll receive a notification on your center display to install the update upon parking your vehicle. When you’re ready to begin, tap “install” and follow the on-screen prompts, which will instruct you to turn off the vehicle. This process can take up to 20 minutes to complete and can’t be stopped once started. Your center display may stay on during installation and will automatically power off upon completion.
• If the conditions for the update aren’t ideal (for instance, your battery state of charge is too low), the update notification might not be visible. In this case, the system will try again at a later time. 
• To help ensure the software update is successful, avoid parking in a garage or covered space as this may limit connectivity.
   

Note: You can check the progress of software update downloads or installations in the Settings app.
Note: If you declined the applicable terms, the vehicle will not be eligible for vehicle software updates.
