How To How to use Profile Switch

Profile Switch links your vehicle’s Memory buttons with up to two Driver Profiles, changing to your previously set preferences with one button press.
If you see physical Memory buttons and Memory Button 1 Profile Link or Memory Button 2 Profile Link within the vehicle’s Seating Position settings, your vehicle is capable of Profile Switch.

How Profile Switch works

Profile Switch allows you to connect a button (Memory 1 or Memory 2) to a saved Driver Profile when pressed and held. This will activate all the profile’s saved settings rather than just the saved seat positions.

Preferences included in Driver Profiles may include settings for:

  • Driver Seat Memory
  • Radio/Audio Favorites
  • Auto Fan Speed
  • Auto Defog
  • Auto Rear Defog
  • RainSense Wipers
  • Attention Detection
  • Drowsiness Detection
  • Traffic Sign Recognition
  • Exit Lighting
  • Display Mode

You must have a saved Driver Profile in the vehicle to link preferences to a Memory button. Once Profile Switch is enabled and linked to a Memory button in the vehicle’s Settings and your vehicle is in Park, you can apply the saved Driver Profile by pressing the button, rather than doing so in the center display or adjusting features to your preferences each time you enter the vehicle.

To link a Memory button with Profile Switch:

1. Pressing Set to program a Memory button will send a message in your center display, prompting you to link a Driver Profile to the button as well.

Note: Profile Switch will not apply any preferences or account logins unless you have previously saved them in your Driver Profile.

2. Tapping “Link a Profile” will take you directly to the setting within the Seating Position menu.

a. If you do not see a prompt, go to Settings in the vehicle’s center display. Tap Seating Position, then Memory Button 1 Profile Link or Memory Button 2 Profile Link.

Note: Profile Switch cannot link more than one Driver Profile to a Memory button at a time.

3. Select the saved Driver Profile you’d like to link to the Memory button.

4. Profile Switch will then change to the selected Driver Profile whenever you press the designated Memory button. This Driver Profile will remain linked for all following key cycles, unless you change it in the center display.

Note: Any changes made to settings or preferences in the selected Driver Profile will be automatically incorporated when using Profile Switch.

a. You can repeat the process and select a different Driver Profile to apply to the Memory Button (1 or 2) Profile Link at any time.

b. You can remove Profile Switch from a Memory button by selecting “None” as its Driver Profile.

Q&As

Will Profile Switch remember my EV charging preferences?

Yes. If you link a GM account to a Driver Profile with saved charging preferences, setting that Driver Profile to a Memory button with Profile Switch will apply those preferences automatically.

Can Profile Switch remember trailers in my in-vehicle Trailering app?

Yes. The trailer profiles in your Trailering app can be saved to your Driver Profile and set to a Memory button. Then, Profile Switch can apply that Driver Profile’s Trailering app preferences whenever the vehicle senses a trailer.

Can I still use Memory Seats without activating a Driver Profile every time?

Yes. Setting a Memory Button Profile Link to “None” will allow you to use the standard Memory button function, rather than linking to a Driver Profile.
