This system works in tandem with the Tire Pressure Monitoring
Learn how to use the Tire Fill Alert system on equipped Chevrolet vehicles to help easily inflate your tires to the recommended pressure.
Tire Fill Alert instructions
- Park your vehicle in a safe, level location.
- Ensure your vehicle is placed in Park (P) and set the parking brake firmly.
- Confirm the ignition is in the Accessory or On position (the Tire Pressure Monitoring
System* light must be illuminated). - Add air to the underinflated tire. The turn signal lamp closest to the tire will flash while air is being added.
- Stop adding air when the horn chirps once. The turn signal lamp will stop flashing, indicating the recommended cold tire pressure has been reached.
- Repeat these steps for any other underinflated tires.
NOTE: Always ensure you do not exceed the manufacturer's recommended tire pressure. Driving with overinflated tires can reduce traction, increase the risk of blowouts and cause uneven tire wear.
Tire Fill Alert tips and troubleshooting
- Correcting Overinflated Tires: If a tire is overinflated by more than 5 psi, the horn will sound multiple times and the turn signal lamp will continue to flash. To correct the pressure, briefly press the center of the valve stem to release air while the turn signal is flashing. Stop when the horn sounds once.
- System Activation Delay: If the turn signal lamp does not flash within 15 seconds after you start inflating the tire, the system is not working. You will need to use a standard manual tire pressure gauge.
- Hazard Warning Flashers: Ensure your hazard lights are turned off. If the hazard warning flashers are on, the visual feedback for the Tire Fill Alert will not work.
- Signal Interference: If the system does not operate due to interference, move the vehicle about 3 feet (1 meter) forward or backward and try again.
- Tire Pressure Information: For details about your vehicle's specific tire pressure recommendations, please refer to the tire sticker on your driver-side door jamb or your vehicle Owner's Manual.
NOTE: The Tire Fill Alert system is a convenience feature and does not apply to spare tires. It is not a substitute for regular manual tire pressure checks.
