How to use your vehicle’s Tire Inflator Kit

Temporarily seal and inflate a flat tire to get back on the road safely.

The Tire Inflator Kit is designed to temporarily repair and inflate a flat tire when a spare is not available. It uses a combination of liquid tire sealant and an air compressor to seal small punctures in the tire tread. After use, the vehicle can be safely driven a short distance to an authorized dealer for a permanent repair.

Tire Inflator Kits are commonly found in electric vehicles (EV) instead of spare tires. If your vehicle has a spare tire or sealant tire, it likely does not have a Tire Inflator Kit.
 

Chevrolet vehicles with a Tire Inflator Kit include: 
 

• Equinox EV, Blazer EV, Silverado EV, Bolt EUV, BrightDrop Electric Van, Silverado EV WT 

• Seals punctures up to 1/4-inch in the tread area of the tire. 
• Cannot repair sidewall damage, large tears or unseated tires. 
• Tire sealant is for single use only and features an expiration date. 
• The tire must be inspected and repaired by a dealer within 100 miles.

• A sealant canister 
• An air compressor with a power cord and built-in pressure gauge 
• A sealant filling hose 
• An air compressor hose 
• User instructions or a quick start guide
  

1. Locate and remove the tire inflator kit from your vehicle. 
2. Ensure the vehicle is in a well-ventilated space. 
3. Attach the sealant filling hose to the valve stem. 
4. Plug the compressor into the vehicle accessory power outlet. 
5. Start the vehicle engine to power the air compressor. 
6. Turn the inflator kit switch ON to inject sealant and air. 
7. Inflate to the recommended tire pressure. 
8. Turn the inflator kit switch to the OFF position. 
9. Disconnect hose and stow tire inflator kit. 
10. Drive 5 miles to distribute the tire sealant. 
11. Stop safely and recheck the tire pressure.

About Sealing and Inflating: The kit injects liquid sealant into the tire while the compressor fills it with air. The vehicle must be driven immediately after application to evenly distribute the sealant inside the tire. 
 
Using the Air Compressor Only: The air compressor can be used independently without the liquid sealant. This is useful for adjusting tire pressure or inflating a slow leak when a puncture is not present. 
 
Sealant Expiration: Always check the expiration date on your tire sealant canister. Sealant used past its expiration date may not effectively seal punctures. If your sealant is expired, visit an authorized dealer for a replacement canister. 
 
Use in Well-Ventilated Area: When using the kit, remember that idling your vehicle to power the compressor must be done in an open, well-ventilated space to prevent dangerous carbon monoxide buildup. 
 
Tire Pressure Limit: To help avoid overinflation, verify your recommended tire pressure using the Tire and Loading Information label, commonly located on the edge of the driver’s side door.

No pressure reading 

The connection between the inflator kit and tire is bad. 

• Turn the inflator switch to the OFF position. 
• Check the hose attachment at the valve stem. 
• Tighten the hose connection and resume inflating. 

Tire will not fully inflate 

The tire damage is too severe for the sealant. 

• Stop inflating if 15 minutes have passed. 
• Turn the inflator switch to the OFF position. 
• Do not drive the vehicle any further. 

Pressure drops after driving 

The tire pressure falls after your initial 5-mile drive. 

• Stop driving if the tire pressure falls more than 10 psi.  
• The tire cannot be temporarily repaired. 
• Contact roadside assistance.
