How to unlock, lock, and start your vehicle using a key card
The key card provided with your vehicle is designed to be a backup in situations where your key fob isn’t available. The card allows you to unlock and lock the vehicle, plus start it within 2 minutes of unlocking.
How it works
Unlocking the Driver’s Door:
1. Briefly hold your key card at the spot shown on the reverse side of the card.
- This location varies by model.
2. Once unlocked, you have 2 minutes to start the vehicle.
- A message in the center display will show a timer and prompts to start the vehicle.
3. If the time expires, hold your key card at the designated spot again and the time will reset.
Locking All Doors:
1. Make sure the vehicle is off, and all doors and windows are closed.
2. Briefly hold your key card at the spot shown on the reverse side of the card.
- If at least one door is unlocked, doing this will lock the vehicle.
Note: Some key cards may require software updates to function as designed. For these cards, it is recommended to use the key fob until you receive communications from your dealer alerting you of software updates.
Key Card Usage Tips:
- The back of the card shows where to tap to unlock or lock.
- One key card is provided with the vehicle, but up to 7 additional key cards can be purchased from your dealer.
- Treat the key card like an additional key fob and store it securely.
- Don’t write on or punch holes in the key card.
- If the key card is lost or stolen, see your dealer to purchase a replacement. Your dealer can also deactivate lost cards to help prevent unauthorized vehicle access.
