Over the past few years, the Chevrolet Performance COPO Camaro Shootout has become a late-August tradition in Norwalk, Ohio.

Taking place at the pristine Summit Motorsports Park, the event presented by COPO Parts Direct brings together owners and racers of Chevrolet Performance’s purpose-built race car from all over North America. Fittingly for an icon of American muscle like the COPO Camaro, the program is part of the NMCA All-American Nationals.

Each year, the COPO Camaro Shootout brings dozens of COPO racers to Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.

The sixth annual event will take place from August 22-25 and will once again feature luncheons, socials, prize giveaways and fierce on-track competition.

In 2024, COPO racers will again be eligible for participation in multiple classes, but the COPO-specific programs will see some changes this year. The “Battle” class is now known as “Bracket Battle” and runs on a dial-in format. All modern and vintage COPOs are eligible to compete.

Meanwhile, Stock/Super Stock is an index class that replaces N/A Heads-up. It is designed for correct late-model COPO Camaros and includes minimum weight requirements for each engine and year combination. Factory Super Cars are prohibited.

However, supercharged Factory Super Cars can still take part in a variety of COPO Shootout programs, while also competing in the ultra-competitive category pitting Big Three factory muscle head-to-head.

Additionally, an optional Sunday bracket race is available to COPO Shootout competitors for an additional buy-in fee.

Fierce on-track competition and off-the-track camaraderie are hallmarks of each COPO Shootout.

The registration deadline for the 2024 COPO Camaro Shootout is August 17. No NMCA membership is required, and multiple entries are permitted. More information and registration details are at this link, while additional event information and rules can be found on the COPO Parts Direct and NMCA COPO Camaro Shootout Facebook pages.

Make plans today and be part of the yearly COPO family reunion.
