Frequently asked questions

Do most people charge at home?

More than 80% of charging happens at home. See how home charging is easier than ever before.

What are the different ways to charge?

Level 1 – Charge anywhere there’s a 3-prong outlet. This can give you enough to cover an average daily commute of 40 miles per charge*.

Level 2 – The fastest way to charge at home with a 240V outlet. Chevrolet offers a hassle-free 240V outlet installation provided by our exclusive provider Qmerit. This can cover an average daily commute of 40 miles in under 2 hours*, and lets you wake up to a full charge. Level 2 charging is also available at public charging stations.

DC Fast Charging – Offers accelerated charging while you’re away from home. This is available at public charging stations only. Use your maps feature in the myChevrolet Mobile App* to find charging locations in the U.S.

How do I know if my vehicle is equipped for DC Fast Charging?

All Chevrolet electric vehicles include standard DC fast public charging capability.

What is the Dual Level Charger?

The Dual Level Charger* is portable and has changeable wall plugs for both 120-volt level 1 charging and 240-volt level 2 charging. The Dual Level Charger eliminates the need to buy a separate charger for your home and a standalone charging station is not required. This charger brings more versatility and even more convenience to charging - charge at home, at work, or even at a friend's house. You can charge almost anywhere there is a standard 120-volt 3 prong outlet, or with a quick change of the included plugs, get the speed of Level 2 charging* at a NEMA 14-50 outlet.

How do I find someone to install a home charging outlet for me?

Chevrolet has collaborated with Qmerit to provide home charging installers in your area to handle outlet installation and pulling any necessary permits required by your city or state.

How do I plan a road trip?

Plan your road trip with the maps feature on your myChevrolet mobile app* – it’s loaded with information, including the locations of more than 250,000 public chargers with real-time availability, vehicle battery range and the estimated length of your stop to get charged. When your phone is connected to your vehicle, the app will monitor energy usage during your trip.
