Resolve problems with Bluetooth in your vehicle

When your smart device is not pairing
If your smart device, such as a phone or tablet, is not pairing to your vehicle’s Bluetooth connection, you should first check that your device and infotainment system’s software is up to date.* If that does not resolve your issue, you can follow the steps below.
*Note: You can check if your vehicle is eligible for software updates, or see the progress of an update, by selecting Settings > System > Vehicle Software > Updates.
1. Ensure Bluetooth is Enabled:
- Go to the Settings menu on your smart device and select Bluetooth
- Verify that Bluetooth is turned On
- Then, select the Settings icon on your center display. Go to Bluetooth and make sure it is toggled On
2. Make Device Discoverable:
- On your smart device, go to the Settings menu and select Bluetooth
- Make sure that your device’s Bluetooth signal is discoverable to other devices
3. Pair New Device:
- From your center display, press the Settings icon
- From the Settings menu, select Bluetooth
- From there, select Pair New Device
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the pairing process
4. Confirm Pairing Code:
- Ensure the pairing code on your smart device matches the on-screen code
- Confirm the pairing on both devices
5. Test the Connection:
- Make a phone call or play music to ensure the Bluetooth connection is working
When there is a lost Bluetooth connection
If your smart device was connected to Bluetooth in your vehicle and lost connection, or if you can’t start a Bluetooth connection in your vehicle, you can follow the steps below.
1. Check Range and Obstructions:
- Ensure your vehicle and smart device are within range and there are no obstructions between them
2. Restart Devices:
- Restart your smart device and your vehicle to reset the connection
3. Delete and Reconnect Your Device
- Delete your device from your vehicle’s list of paired devices:
- With the vehicle On, use the vehicle’s center display to navigate to the Bluetooth Settings menu. From there, you can view pairable devices, including currently paired devices
- Select the device name
- Select Delete
- Confirm that the device name has been removed from the list of paired devices
- Remove the vehicle from your device’s list of paired devices:
- In your device’s Settings menu, choose Bluetooth
- Find the vehicle name in the list of paired devices
- Choose Delete or Forget This Connection
- After removing both connections:
- Turn the vehicle Off
- Open and close the vehicle door
- Wait two minutes
- Pair your device to the vehicle again
