How To How to use Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert

Available Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert* is a trailering feature that provides visual side-mirror alerts when a moving vehicle is detected in a side blind zone that is extended to trailer lengths.

How to use Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert

  • If equipped, Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert is a trailering feature designed to detect moving vehicles in your side blind zones. It can alert you to help you avoid lane change collisions.
  • Compared to the regular Side Blind Zone Alert feature, Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert extends the range the feature can detect moving vehicles to the length of your trailer.
  • Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert is designed to detect vehicles a short distance behind the end of the trailer you're towing.

If the system detects a vehicle in your Side Blind Zone:

  • You'll see an amber warning light on the outside rearview mirror on the same side as the detected vehicle.
  • If you activate your turn signal in that direction, this warning symbol will flash as an extra warning to not change lanes.

Getting started

  • To turn Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert on, enable Lane Change Alert through the Settings menu when you have a trailer attached. When a trailer is attached, the regular Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert feature is disabled and only Trailer Side Blind Zone can be used.
  • Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert will be active when the vehicle is not in PARK (or the parking brake is off on manual transmission vehicles) and you have a trailer attached. The feature is disabled when a trailer is not attached.
  • When a trailer is no longer attached, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert will revert to the previous on or off setting.
  • The feature supports trailers of different lengths depending on your vehicle. You can input trailer length as part of a trailer profile in the Trailering App. This can improve vehicle detection and avoid false alerts.

Turning Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert off

  • You can turn Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert off through the Settings menu of your center display.
  • The system will remember if you turned it off, so if you turn your vehicle off, Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert will stay off. You can always turn it on again in the Settings menu.

For your security, please don’t include personal info such as phone number, address or credit card details.
