The myChevrolet mobile app* lets you send remote commands to your vehicle,* if your vehicle is properly equipped and your active service plan supports this service. The essential controls are found on the My Vehicle tab of your vehicle’s app, with additional options found on the Controls tab. The available controls are found on the Home screen of your vehicle’s app and vary depending on the features of your vehicle.

Remote start the vehicle/engine

Start the vehicle so it’s ready for your departure or cancel a remote start* command.

1. From the app’s home screen on the My Vehicle tab, press and hold the center Climate icon (on some vehicles, you tap the Start icon).

‒ Remote commands only require a single tap, but pressing and holding for 3-5 seconds will still work.

2. The button will say “Sent” once the command is successful.

3. On some vehicles, the cabin temperature will be shown above the button (updated every 3 minutes).

4. On equipped vehicles, tapping the center Climate or Start icon again turns the vehicle or Climate off and/or changes temperature.

Remote lock/unlock

Remotely unlock or lock your vehicle’s doors.

1. From the My Vehicle tab on the app’s Home screen, tap the Lock or Unlock icon.

2. In addition to remote start and lock/unlock, your vehicle may also support other remote commands from the mobile app.

a. In the Home screen of the Controls tab, you’ll see all of your available controls. You can also tap Learn More for more information on remote commands.

b. Stop/start alarm: Tap the Sound Alarm or Stop Alarm icon.

c. Flash lights: Tap the Flash Lights icon or the Stop Lights icon.

d. Unlock trunk/tailgate/liftgate or front closure (if equipped): Tap the Unlock Trunk, Unlock Tailgate, Unlock Liftgate, or Unlock eTrunk TM icon (depending on your model; select models only).

e. The front or rear closures will automatically re-lock after a few minutes.

If the command fails, here are some things to check before attempting the command again:

  • Remove the key fob from the vehicle and ensure any manual key is removed from the ignition.
  • Make sure you are at least 10 feet away from the vehicle.
  • Check that all doors and the trunk, hood and gas cap are closed.
  • Make sure hazard lights are turned off.

If an error occurs while trying to use a remote command, go to your app’s Command History page, then:

  • Tap your initials > Settings > Command History.
  • Tap the Triangle icon to view the error and recommended resolution.

‒ If no errors are identified, continue to the next step.

  • Start the vehicle, let it run for 60 seconds, then turn the vehicle off.
  • Retry the remote command.

Q&As

Why do I have to hold the button in the app to issue a remote command?

The approximately two-second hold is an industry standard designed to help avoid accidental presses of the button, so you don’t unintentionally start or unlock your vehicle. When you press the icon, the app will remind you to “Keep Holding” until the command is issued. When the command is successful, the button will say “Sent.”
